Jeanne
Lapoirie
made her start as a camera assistant to the Thierry Arbogast
and worked on a few short films, including Gisèle
Kérosène by Jan Kounen (award for best
short film, Festival d'Avoriaz, 1989). She then embarked
on what would become a long collaboration with André
Téchiné. She began working as a camera operator
for Ma saison préférée which
was selected for official competition at Cannes in 1993.
The following year she was director of photography for
Les Roseaux sauvages which was nominated at Cannes
in 1994 and won four Césars in 1995. As director
of photography, she also collaborated with Téchiné
on Les Voleurs, starring Catherine Deneuve and
Daniel Auteuil, which earned Laurence Côté
the César for best young actress in 1997, and was
selected for official competition at Cannes in 1998.
Jeanne
Lapoirie has also worked in television. In 1996, she
was frame adjuster for Lou Jeunet's Tout ce qui brille,
featuring Annie Girardot and Isabelle Carré. At
the same time she collaborated on a number of medium-length
films including Abracadabra by Phippe Découflé,
directing cinematography for several choreographs, and
Ismael Fellouki's L'Inconnu, starring Catherine
Deneuve and Miki Manojlovic.
