Pascale
Bussières made her mark
in the film industry at a very early age. At 13, she made
her acting début in the film Sonatine by
Micheline Lanctôt. She then went on to roles in
George Mihalka's Chemin de Damas, Jacques Leduc's
La Vie fantôme, and the television series
Blanche, which totally captivated viewers. She
continued her rise to fame with roles in Deux Actrices
by Micheline Lanctôt, and Charles Binamé's
Eldorado which was nominated for the prestigious
Director's Fortnight at Cannes in 1995. She went on to
Toronto to act in the film When the Night Is Falling,
by Patricia Rozema, which was nominated at the Berlin
International Film Festival in 1996. Television audiences
were delighted to meet up with her again in continuing
dramas Chambres en ville, Tandem, Marilyn,
Montréal ville ouverte, the television series
Marguerite Volant and Paparazzi, and the
T.V. polot, Platinum. She also played Princesse
Astronaute, in the children's television program on
the family channel.
Her
film roles, liker her television performances, earned
her several nominations. In 1992 she walked away with
the Award for Best Actress at the world Film Festival
for her portrayal of Laure in La Vie fantôme.
She then won the Métrostar artist of the
year award and the Artis award for best actress
at the 1994 Métrostar gala for her moving
portrayal of blanche.
In
addition to her appearance in Jacques Leduc's film L'âge
de braise and Charles Binamé's Le Coeur
au Poing, Pascale Bussières had the
starring role in Denis Villeneuve's feature film Un
32 août sur terre, which was presented this
year at Cannes in the category Un certain regard.
She just completed work on L'Homme invisible à
la fenêtre directed by Jean Beaudin, in which
she starred opposite James Hyndman. She has just made
her theatrical début to critical acclaim playing
Abigail in the French version of Arthur Miller's The
Crucible, at the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde.
